Collaborate with Microsoft Live Share

- [Walt] Working remotely is now a mainstream endeavor. Across the world, people are working from their dining room tables and bedroom offices. Programmers face the same issues as everyone else working from home. For example, what is the best way to meet with your teammates? Do we still need face-to-face time or can it be done other ways? For meetings, we can use video chat, virtual meeting rooms, and team collaboration tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams. Let us think about our programming tools. How work-from-home ready are they? Thankfully, many of the programming tools we use are already in the cloud. Our source code is stored in GitHub. We have our build tools and DevOp applications in the cloud. Hey there. I'm Walt Ritscher. I've been working at home for many years. It's true that the situation is different now. I'm grateful that our connected tools are in a better place than even a few years ago. In this course, my colleague, Ray Villalobos, and I look at another piece of the puzzle. I'm talking about the collaboration tools built into code editors and IDEs. Microsoft Live Share is available in Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. Now it's possible to share your code screens with colleagues and testers. You can have a remote code review with others from within the editor. Live Share does this with a minimal impact on your team. Your teammates don't need to have your source code on their computer. They can participate in debugging your application without configuring a server or installing the app on their computer. Microsoft Live Share is an important feature for remote coders, and we can't wait to show it to you.
