Which shapes contain data? Part 1
- [Narrator] Nearly all Visio templates include one or more stencils. And each stencil contains one or more shape masters. In many cases, the masters contain predefined data fields. In this video, we'll explore five examples of templates whose shapes include data. For convenience, I'm going to use examples from the starter diagrams that are included with Visio 2016. If you're not using Visio 2016, you can follow along by creating a diagram from the same template and then adding your own shapes. Let's begin with a flowchart. Because I've used the flowchart template recently, it appears on the Featured tab. So I can select it and let's choose this starter diagram and Create. As I select a shape, you notice that shape data fields appear. So the flowchart shapes, by default, do contain data fields. There's a Cost field which is set up as a currency type. So when I type a number, it will be formatted for, in my case, US currency. There is a numeric field to enter a Process Number to…
