Reuse shape data fields

- [Narrator] Once you've created a set of shape data fields that you like, it's pretty common that you'll want to reuse the same fields in other shapes. In this video, we're going to examine three techniques for doing just that. The first technique is to create a new master from your shape, which allows you to drag and drop instances of your master onto the page. To accomplish that, click in the shapes window on more shapes, and then new stencil, and you can choose from either US units or metric. I'll choose US units. And then simply drag a shape that contains the fields you want into the stencil. A tip here, you'll notice that when I drag that shape into the stencil, it disappeared from the page. Let me press control Z to undo that. If you hold down the control key before you release the mouse button to drop the shape into the stencil, then Visio makes a copy of it into the stencil, rather than moving it into the stencil.
