Link one shape to multiple data sources
- [Instructor] In a previous video, we saw that it's possible to link a Visio diagram to multiple data sources, which raises an interesting question. Is it possible to link a shape within a diagram to more than one set of data? The answer is yes, and in this video we'll connect organization chart shapes to two different sets of employee data, one in a SharePoint list, and one in Excel. Here's the SharePoint list of employee data. Basic stuff, name, employee number, extension, and to whom each person reports. Here's a set of performance data for annual training and quarterly performance metrics that happens to be stored in Excel. This file is local on my computer, but it could easily be located anywhere. Here's the Visio diagram to which we'll link both data sources. If I select any of the employee shapes, you'll notice that the only data values contained in those shapes is the person's name. That will be the key we use to link to both external data sources. Let's begin on the Data tab…
