- You call many of the shapes here in that connected diagram, smart shapes, because there's built-in intelligence. We saw how we could move shapes around and they stay connected, but that's only part of the intelligence. We're going to look at what happens when we decide to add or remove additional shapes. Let's say we wanted to add an extra process step here, and we're missing a step between the start and end and the decision. We just go over to the Shapes Pane here. We click and drag it across onto the page. Let's say we want it to go in between the first process step and the decision. We move right onto the line. You can see what's happening in the background. That arrow switches to a green line with handles, meaning we can now release. Look what happens. Automatically, some extra space is added. The new shape is inserted, and if we click in the background, you can see how it stays connected with a new connection line. Now in the past, in older versions of Visio, you would have to…
