- [Instructor] You can increase the value of many types of diagrams by adding data to the shapes. In this video, we're going to add fields to a shape that doesn't contain any data fields yet. I'll start by dragging a 32-point star shape from the basic shapes template onto the page. Notice that in the Shape Data window, there are no data fields yet for this shape. Before we add any data fields to this shape, I would like to point out one attribute of this shape that's common to many Visio shapes, and that's the presence of the gold or yellow control handle. In this particular shape, when I drag the control handle it changes the radius of the inner portion of the star, which also affects the length of the points of the star. In other shapes, the control handle or handles will do different things. What I would encourage you to do is when you drop a shape onto a page, if you see a control handle you're not familiar with, just experiment with it, you'll find that the shapes are…
