- [Instructor] If you've created organization charts in Visio Diagrams, they were probably very useful, but only showed basic information about each employee. What if you could use that same organization chart to visualize each employee's performance in the organization? The org chart you see on the screen has been linked to two sets of employee data, basic data from a SharePoint list that appears on the first tab in the external data window at the bottom of the screen, and year-to-date performance numbers that are located in an Excel workbook stored in SharePoint. While the simple act of linking a diagram to data increases the value of the diagram, the real power of data linking comes from the fact that the link is dynamic. You can update the diagram at any time to take advantage of changes in the data.
