Working with snapshots and clones
- [Instructor] Snapshots allow us to preserve the state of a virtual machine at any point in time and let us return to it if need be, rolling back any changes that may have been made since the snapshot was taken. This makes it easy to undo changes or to test different conditions without having to manually undo modifications or to reinstall an operating system in order to get back to a known state. In VirtualBox, we can work with snapshots in the snapshots area for each VM. With a guest selected, a click over to the Snapshots area. Here we can take a snapshot of the current state of the machine by pressing the icon with the camera button and a green plus. When we do that, we can give the snapshot a name and write a description if we want to, as well. That can help us remember details about the state of the machine when the snapshot was taken.
