- [Instructor] In addition to the VM manager, there are two other pieces of software that I want to mention here. That's the Guest Additions and the extension pack. The Guest Additions are a set of drivers for guest operating systems that make the experience of using a guest better. When you create a virtual machine, VirtualBox provides a set of generic, emulated hardware that's widely supported across many operating systems. And for the most part, operating systems will work just fine with this hardware. The video adaptor, however, can be a different story. The generic video device that VirtualBox creates often doesn't deliver a great user experience in some operating systems, because it needs a little bit of software in the guest operating system in order to reach its full potential. The guest needs a driver in order to more precisely set the resolution of the display, to allow it to size the display to the window…
