Allocating resources for guests

- [Instructor] When we create a virtual machine, it needs resources in order to run. It needs a CPU, memory, storage, and other devices. And to give these resources to a guest machine, we need to take, or otherwise designate, resources from the host. First, let's look at how allocating CPU resources works. Your host system has one or more CPUs or processors that take care of running software and doing the math that makes almost everything on the system work. When we create a virtual machine, we need to tell VirtualBox how many processors the guest operating system has, too. This doesn't need to exactly match what the host system has. In fact, it's usually a good idea to give the guest fewer processors than the host has. Telling a guest that it has a certain number of processors doesn't block processor cores off from the rest of the system.
