- [Instructor] The history of online video began in the early 1990's shortly after the worldwide web was born. In 1993, the same year internet searching was made possible, a band by the band of Severe Tire Damage live streamed the first video. In 1995, a major league baseball game was broadcast VIA new technology, but the experience of watching online video still had many hurdles. It really wasn't until the early 2000's where things started to change. No longer did you have to choose between serial video players to watch, broadband speeds were also faster in half of the American homes, which was way better than dial-up. Then comes 2005. While YouTube launched on Valentine's Day, the first video was released on April 23rd by one of its founders. Over the span of just over a year, YouTube would host 65,000 new video uploads with 100,000,000 video views per day.
