Working with the DP

- [Narrator] As a colorist, you might work under the direction of a post-production supervisor or an editor, director, producer, but it's also really important on most productions to seek out the input of the Director of Photography or DP. The DP is responsible for the look of the film and will often want input on the final look of the film, even stuff like the coloring of the visual effects. Also as mentioned earlier, the DP will likely have LUTs that they would like you to be using. A lot of the time, these instructions and files will come to you from the editor but it's always a good idea to remember that the DP had a clear vision of every shot and what it should look like. So every effort should be made to include them in the coloring process.
