What's a vlog? - Premiere Pro Tutorial

- So the first thing to talk about is what is a vlog. And vlog stands for video blog. So historically a lot of people would sit down and they would write sort of a running commentary of either their life or their thoughts on a particular subject matter, and that has sort of translated now because video is one of the biggest ways that we communicate to the outside world and a lot of people are taking that concept and putting it into a video format. Now people are doing it personally, but more and more people are doing it for their businesses as well. One of the things that's nice about a vlog as opposed to doing something like a web series or show, which is a little bit more structured, is that a vlog is a little bit more personal, it's a little more conversational, and it's a little less conservative in terms of how you push content out. And that tends to resonate more and connect with your audience, especially when you're a small to medium-sized business. So it kind of lets people inside of your world and not just see one little component of it but sort of the day to day operations of what you might be doing. So for the C47 I have an educational brand. And it's an educational brand with a very specific focus, which is teaching the craft of video production and filmmaking, so I make sure that my vlog is focused on that specifically and every other business is going to have a different focus, and it's going to have a different personality in terms of the vlog and how it translates to the audience that's watching it. So my personal vlogs are all over the place in terms of the topics that they cover, but let's go ahead and take a look at just a little snippet of one of the vlogs that I've done. It is small to no-crew production, something I think myself and a lot of you encounter all of the time. A crew of one to three people. So, today we're going to talk about chroma key. So what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to pull a key. (snaps) So that's really what a vlog is. I think it's a great way to educate an audience in terms of who you are as a business and to connect with them and it becomes I think a very effective way to let people into what your brand is all about.
