What does a production assistant do?

- A production assistant is someone who aids people on set with what needs to be done. So what this means is your objective is to provide assistance to different departments on set. You will be interacting with and doing tasks for a bunch of different types of people. Let's break down the objective real quick. The tasks that you can find yourself doing include organizing wardrobe for actors, carrying equipment, setting up equipment depending on the set, picking up and setting up lunch, running errands, lock down, which is keeping the general public or spectators from coming on set, or even watching over gear. All sets are different, so it's important to know the difference. There are union and non-union sets. On a union set the PA job is very defined.
