What does the VFX team do on set?

- [Instructor] During the shoot the visual effects supervisor will be on set, and on bigger productions they will have a team of people with them. The visual effects team will have several roles on set. Firstly, they are there to oversee the filming of any elements that are going to need visual effects added in post-production. This could include setting up blue or green screens, making sure there are tracking markers in the correct places, or advising the director if elements should be shot separately from each other. A lot of this will have been discussed and planned before the shoot, but things can change on set. The visual effects supervisor will also need to advise the production team about any unforeseen issues that come up during the shoot. Maybe a stunt doesn't go as planned, or a practical effect didn't work as expected, or maybe the weathered changed and the sky is different in the shots filmed after lunch.
