- So what exactly is 360 video? I'm sure you've seen it online, but let's define it, and differentiate between that and VR video. VR, or virtual reality is interactive. 360, which is interchangeably used with VR, happens to be just 360 video. There isn't necessarily interactivity with it. Now how does that material look? So I'm just going to head over to an image here on my laptop, and the fancy word for this type of image is called equirectangular. The whole idea of this image, which is in fact stitched together with multiple cameras, is to take it and wrap it around a sphere. Now picture a person in the middle of that sphere with this footage wrapped around it, and then they're able to look anywhere they want to see what's inside the sphere, and that in fact is 360 video.
