- A painter needs to learn to use brushes. A carpenter needs to learn to use a hammer. And a motion graphics artist needs to learn software. To express themselves, a mograph artist needs to be able to manipulate time and space, to modify and animate still images, to bend and transform life-action footage, to create and animate 2D graphic elements and to dive deep into the world of 3D animation. That's a long list of possibilities to be sure. But there are two applications that every motion graphics artist should have in their toolbox, After Effects and CINEMA 4D.
