- As you build out your online project management platform, it's important that you look for some essential features. You may find all of these in one tool, but more likely, you're going to have to use a collection of tools. Things that I find important include time-tracking and change-tracking. This way, you know how much time was spent, and what changed during the course of the project because things always change. The tools need to be cross-platform, working for Mac and Windows, and these days, work with mobile as well. It's really important that people on web-based devices as well as Android and iOS can access data. You need some control over permissions. This includes the ability to restrict access so client or proprietary information stays private and to be able to do things like add passwords to protect things. Oftentimes, creative projects involve sensitive information or information that can't be broadly distributed…
