Thinking about assets

- Let's talk briefly about the various assets that you can use to convey major pieces of information. There is, of course, the classic interview. Going along with that there's video B-roll and photographs, which can provide visual accompaniment for the interview audio. There's observational footage, which is often presented without interview voiceover, instead allowing the viewer to observe the scene and learn through watching. There are maps and graphics, which can be great ways for you to efficiently show something innately visual. And finally some other omniscient forms of information can be conveyed through voiceover narration or onscreen text. These are all ways that the viewer can gain knowledge in your documentary, and of course aural elements like music and sound effects can provide the mood and a tone in addition to information.
