- Shooting panoramic or VR content with a traditional DSLR or mirrorless camera is a well-established tradition. I've been shooting this type of photography for well over 20 years and the equipment, techniques, and technology hasn't changed that much. All we've seen is faster speeds and better quality. To do this really requires a couple of key pieces of equipment. Francis, this is your rig. Walk us through what's happening here. Of course we have a tripod but there's a very specialty head here. Break it down. - [Francis] So this is what we call a nodal pan and tilt head. What it is is it allows you to set your camera so that way you can capture what we call the nodal point in the lens which reduces parallax and any distortion. - And what's happening there is the camera is not centered over the tripod because if we did that we would see overlap problems particularly when there is some depth, right?
