- When you're recording within your camera there are several options to choose on how the video is actually written to disk. Your Black Magic Camera supports a few different dynamic ranges. A more traditional video style or the film style sometimes referred to as log or film dynamic range. These will change how the video is actually recorded. For example, more contrast or an expanded histogram versus one where the video data is more compacted towards the center and we have a little bit more headroom in the shadows and in the highlights. To access this is pretty simple. If you don't already see the menu up just press the menu button and access the record tab. You may have to swipe through the pages but go to the one that says dynamic range. This now gives you the ability to choose which method you want to use. Video, extended video or film.
