Selecting and using a lavaliere microphone
- A lavalier microphone is a popular microphone for professional presenters. In fact I'm wearing one right now. And this is a great microphone at picking up sound. Generally speaking, it's going to be about this far away from your mouth, and you see that placement there is good at picking up clear audio. Now there are many brands of lavalier microphones out there, I just want to talk about a couple of considerations that you need to think about. First off, many lavalier microphones are going to use a professional connection type, like you see here, three connection pins. This is considered an XLR connection and it's used for things like professional musicians or for things like the PA system that you might have in a corporate setting. This connection does not plug into any modern computer. Now you can go with a USB audio interface, but there is a simpler solution.
