- Now, software is great, except when it doesn't work. And even today, we've experienced a little bit of that. So what happens is sometimes hardware is the way to go, and there are a slew of HDMI recorders on the market, at all sorts of price points, particularly if you only need to record HD. These have fallen down into price points of several hundred dollars. - Yep. - And what do these allow us to do, Rob? - Yeah, so they let you take a external signal, HDMI or SDI for professional cameras, but pipe that out of a computer or a camera and then into this recorder where you can record it in a variety of different codecs or compression schemes. Now, in this case, we have a professional model here. This is a model available from a company called Atomos. And this allows us to plug in an HDMI source, which in this case is Rich's laptop, and all he's done here is gone full-screen on the Skype call that we've set up between our two laptops. - Yep. - [Rob] And he's going to be able to pipe…
