Recording audio with a smartphone or tablet
- It is entirely possible to record sound using a smartphone or tablet. But there are a few things to consider. If you are using the tiny built-in mic on your phone or tablet, the quickly might not be the best. You might be recording a lot of unwanted ambient noises. And you're going to be lacking some key features or controls to record sound. In addition to that you will be dealing with the usual problems we all have like poor battery life, limited storage capacity, and that you cannot use your phone as a phone while you're recording. So this is the recording with my phone and this is the recording with a mic. Can you hear the difference? Now if you want the most compact travel kit or you're vlogging or you're doing behind the scenes, go for it. I would add a small smartphone gimbal and a shotgun mic that is specifically designed for smartphones. If you're doing interviews I would consider a lavalier mic like…
