- Welcome back. Within the last few years, all of the professional unions have begun to recognize web TV as a viable form of media. We at Web TV Workshop highly recommend taking advantage of joining professional unions like the Writers Guild of America, because now, unlike any other time, the opportunities are wide open. The Writers Guild is divided by the Mississippi River into two separate unions, Writers Guild East and Writers Guild West. Each functions separate of one another but act as sister unions. New media includes all writing of audio-visual production intended for the internet, mobile devices, evolving technological devices, such as the iPad, or any other platform thought of as new media by the industry as of the start of the 2008 Minimum Basic Agreement, or MBA.
