- All right, now we're not covering post production in this class, but there are some things that you need to be thinking about while you're shooting to make sure that post and your editing process go smoothly. So I just want to talk about those things briefly. The first one is slating. Now when we talk about the slate, that's that clapper board that I'm sure you've probably seen in movies and TV shows that is kind of iconic. And the reason, the thing that this slate does and the reason why you do it is because it gives you a reference point in post for what the shots are so that you can sort of scan through and go oh okay, I know what this shot is. So while you may not actually have a full on slate on your production it's always important to at least sort of factor some way of slating in so that when you go into post or when your editor gets the footage, there's some sort of means to make sort of sense of…
