Planning a multicamera production

- Working as a one-person crew with more than one camera might seem like a pretty bad idea. With only one camera, we're already thinking about framing and exposure and asking questions and monitoring sound and checking the storage and the battery and wondering how are we going to finish all these shots on time. Adding a second camera might seem crazy, but I actually use two or even three cameras and here's why. For interviews, having one camera shooting 4K on a medium shot and a second camera also shooting 4K on a wider shot, effectively gives me four cameras in post. Cutting between sentences is much easier and it requires less B-roll. For run and gun, one camera is on a tripod with a zoom lens, while a second one is on a gimbal with a prime lens. Instead of setting up the camera between shots, I simply grab the one I need and go. For behind the scenes, one camera can be set up in a corner, recording time-lapses or…
