Netting

Netting

Sometimes we're on a set and you know, there's one way to cut the power of light. That's to move it. You know, you could pull it further away, it knocks it down. But maybe there's no room, or maybe there's no time. So, don't you have some tricks up your sleeve, Jim, to very quickly cut down the intensity of the light without dimming the light? >> Right, it's not always desirable to actually put a dimmer on a light and decrease its it's voltage and decrease its intensity because what you might get is, is a shift in color temperature that doesn't fit with your, your expectations and how you're trying to light. Now having color temperature constant dimmers aside, sometimes it's better just to use the old school tools like nets, scrims, or neutral density gel and actually place these things in front of the light beam to cut down on the amount of light intensity without changing the color temperature of the light itself.
