- Once you've shot your video resume, it may feel like you're finished. However I recommend performing some basic editing to give the video more polish, as well as flesh it out with additional materials as appropriate. Let's first talk about the most basic type of editing. Which is essentially cutting out what's not necessary. In a video resume, every single moment counts. If there are any extra moments in a 60 to 90 second video, they will be detractors. So go through the entire video with a fine tooth comb, and cut out anything that's not needed. Now fortunately there are some nice editing devices that you can use to cohesively piece together these separate moments. Known in the video world as jump cuts. So the viewer can't tell that you've actually removed unwanted material. One way is to punch in from a medium shot to a close-up. As you can see the punch in hides the edit and looks clean.
