Defining your personal mission statement

Defining your personal mission statement
- Okay, you're still with me, so that means you passed the test, you're through all the different attributes and you will still want to be a freelancer, or you still want to keep your career as a freelancer, so that's great. So let's talk about defining your personal mission statement. Once you've decided freelancing is for you, it's time to think about this, and when I ask people about what is their mission, they often tell me what they do, like, I'm an editor, or how they do it, I like to shoot with my red camera, but people often miss the most important part which is why they do it. You really need all three in a mission statement. So I want you to check out this TED Talk by Simon Sinek called Start With Why, and he's speaking about leadership, but it really applies to you as a self-employed person because you have to be your own motivational leader. After you watch that video, we'll talk more about developing your customized elevator pitch in the next chapter.
