- Let's talk about how the Project Freelow documentary team approached shooting interviews during the shoot. Now, we just talked all about the equipment that we're using, so if you haven't checked out the previous movie, head over there first so that you'll first be able to understand much of the context of what I'm about to cover. Now, with the exception of one multi camera interview, we recorded all interviews, single camera, using one of the Canon C300s. I've mentioned our plan to adopt the 60 Minutes style of interview where we use a long focal length lens to our advantage in order to maximize shot differentiation in our relatively limited space. Again, this features a well lit subject in front of various out of focus backgrounds, comprised of different nondescript colors and shapes. So, in order to obtain this look, we used the Canon 70-200 millimeter lens, and placed the camera quite a distance from the subject, about 10 feet or more. Then, with the lens focused on the subject…
