Ask for feedback

- As a production assistant, you're at the beginning of your career in the video industry. It never hurts to ask for feedback. This will help you grow. The best time to ask for feedback is a day or so, maybe a little bit more, after the shoot. It's still fresh in your point of contact's mind and they can give you guidance. Even better, ask them after a handful of times you've worked with them. They know you now and can speak to that. Want to know more about a specific production department? Ask that person to meet up for coffee. Not only has that person worked with you and can talk about how you can grow but they can also talk more about the industry in general. They could turn into a mentor and help you network. But don't worry if they don't get back to you quickly. They are busy people with a lot going on. So let them respond in their time.
