From the course: Video Gear
Welcome to Video Gear Weekly
- Hey there, I'm Robbie Carman. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And welcome to the introduction to a new weekly class, called Video Gear Weekly. Now Rich, I'm really excited about this. Why don't you tell everybody what Video Gear Weekly's all about? - [Rich] Well Rob, for the last two years you and I put out a weekly course called DSLR Video Tips. But so much has happened in the industry, we're seeing a boom in mirrorless cameras, pocket cinema cameras, just, it's incredible; 4K cameras that are less than $4,000. - [Rob] We're gonna cover everything from cameras to accessories to even adapters that can make your life easy. Then the latest and greatest and sort of, mirrorless cameras, cinema cameras, even sort of action cameras like GoPros, and things of that nature, and we're gonna talk about all the gear that goes along with that. - We're still budget-minded, we know a lot of you are approaching this out of love and passion. For us, it's all about balancing high-production value with reasonable cost, and there's so many solutions out there. And what I love is that on the show, we can cover everything from the big manufacturers to the coolest Kickstarter projects that have just come out. We're finding great gear that people are inventing, and we're gonna bring it to you each week. - [Rob] Yeah, we spend a lot of time combing the internet looking for the latest and greatest gear. We talked to a lot of production folks, a lot of post-production folks about the gear that they find useful, and the gear that they're using. - [Rich] Yeah, and we visited some of the top trade shows internationally, global events like NAB and IBC and Inter BEE over in Japan. And we're looking for the coolest gear that's gonna help you. But the good news here, is that this is for everybody. So, whether you are an enthusiast or a professional, you're gonna find solutions. We wanna make sure that any investment you make in equipment is gonna help you get the most bang for your buck, whether that be production or post, audio or video, lighting, all sorts of great things and we're really excited that you're here for the trip. And every week it's gonna be something new. - But we wanna hear from you, too. If you have a piece of gear, or a technique that you find useful that we haven't covered, use social media, contact Rich and I on Twitter, or leave a comment here on Lynda.com. We're always willing to talk about and discover things that you're using in your own workflows. - Lynda.com is doing this to help the video community, and you can tell others about it so they can watch and learn. So, we'd like to welcome you to Video Gear Weekly. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Be sure to check back each week. We really hope you enjoy the show, and Rob, I'm looking forward to producing this with you. - I think it's gonna be a fun ride, Rich.
