The digital era emerges: The age of the NLE

- Needless to say, computers and the digitization and storage of different types of files have changed the world in astronomical ways. And certainly one of the industries that has experienced a particularly significant impact is that of the world of video editing. Okay, so as we know from some previous movies there were several ways of editing the moving image towards the end of the 20th century. There was the traditional method of editing film, which was very manual but offered editors plenty of flexibility in assembling shots in whatever order they wanted. And there was linear tape to tape editing, which was mechanical process that forced editors to predetermine the edits needed to assemble the show in a linear fashion, using the model where source tapes are queued up and edited onto a record tape. But in the 1980's technological advancements allowed the use of computers to bring maximum flexibility to the editing process and thus nonlinear editing was born. Let's talk a little bit…
