Norman: Now at long last is the time to start bringing all of these concepts together. And see how they can help to begin editing a scene from the movie that we just did the log lines for Magellan. Let's remind ourselves what the log line for this movie is. It focuses on Magellan, a young, hyper-awkward, bullied boy who meets a lonesome latchkey girl in his school named Tiana. He comes out of his shell a bit, asks her to a school dance, and when she ultimately rejects him, he has to learn to stand up for himself. So, that's the arc of the film, its log line. Now, we're going to move into editing a scene, Scene 31. The first thing that you should do is take a look at that scene in a script. It's a scene where Magellan has a confrontation with Tiana who tells him that she won't go to the dance with him even though she had told him the day before that she would. So the first questions that I'd ask are, what is the scene about, and how does it help push the log line forward? In this case…
