(light music) - [Voiceover] A video capable digital SLR gives you a fantastic amount of filmmaking power. However, no matter how good your camera is there is still a tremendous number of decisions you have to make and a huge number of obstacles that come between your starting point and a finished video. In this course, you're gonna come with me a I put together a promotional video for a friend in LA, who's preparing a one-man theatrical show. He needs a short video that can be put on the web that'll get people into seats. And I want to give people a chance to see what Steven's show is all about. I've watched him for a long time, he's an amazing performer. So you're gonna see me shoot his rehearsal process, you're gonna see me talk to him about what this show is about, how it came to be, how he put it together, and what he's doing to prepare. Along the way, I'm going to be shooting with multiple cameras and I'm going to be using some techniques that I'm hoping will jazz up what might be some otherwise boring shots of a guy sitting at a computer writing. When all that's done I'm gonna head into the editing room, take this mess of footage that I've shot and try to cut it into a short but compelling story that will serve to show what Steven's up to and generate enough interest to get people into the theater to watch his show. The ideas you're gonna see here are simple but they're gonna be very effective ways of creating video that is much more compelling. Before we head to LA though you're gonna see me do a little of preparation as I get some scheduling worked out and start choosing my gear. (light music)
