Pillar holdout matte

- Now we've got our Mantis character and shadows all composited. The next step is we have to fix this little pillar overlap right here. We need to do a holdout on the pillar to cover up not only our character but the ground shadows and all the other stuff we'll be adding later. The simplest way to do is to simply hand keyframe a simple roto. So let's do that. Select the Grade node, Shift O to get a Roto node over here. Hook the viewer up to the new Roto node. And let's switch to an all-roto display here by typing the Spacebar on the keyboard. So we'll go find a frame where we have lots of good detail. I'm going to increase the viewer brightness so we can see our edges a little better. So let's step through and look for a good starting frame. One where we can see all of our edges very nicely. Now, notice this has a lot of motion blur. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to roto to the inside hard edge all the way around. And then let the feather and motion blur spread it out to…
