Adding the mantis shadows
- Now that we have a basic mantis comp, we can take a look at putting in our shadows. You'll recall that the mantis, let me hook up to that Read node, has got a shadows layer, and in that shadows layer there are two channels, the contact shadows, which we'll see in the alpha channel, and the ground shadow. Let's start with the ground shadow first, do a little tidy-up here and make a little room for our work. I'll add a dot, tidy things up a little bit. Let's add a Grade node here, and we'll call this Grade node ground shadow. And of course, we need to mask it off by the shadow's dot ground layer. So we'll add another dot here, hook the mask input to the Grade node up to there. Now, if I switch the Viewer back to RGB, and now we'll take a look at our Grade for the ground shadow. I'm going to set the gain down to zero. Now, we see an outline of the mantis character, because the default mask is the alpha channel. So we need to change that right here, so we'll say I want the…
