- These days post production is a norm for 4K video. People are always post processing the footage after the fact, whether it's cropping in to pull out great HD video, or needing to conform for different deliveries. But one of the things that's really grown a lot lately is the flexibility to record in camera with different profiles. And one in particular, log, is very popular. Jim, why would you choose to shoot in log on set? - Well, my goal with these cameras as they get better in quality is to utilize the maximum performance that the camera can do. So log recording formats allow you to use the maximum benefit of dynamic range that these cameras can render. - [Voiceover] And that really breaks down to not clipping details in the camera. It's very easy while shooting to crush a black or blow out a white highlight. And by compressing things a bit, and really packing the middle of the signal, we have a lot of flexibility.
