When to use a cage

- Jim, we've got a pretty solid cage here, and I like this one from Wooden Camera. It actually has a support beam here so that it's not putting any wear and tear on the camera itself. Rather than pulling on the top here or on the bottom, it's transferred all of the support function to this beam, and I've got a handle for easy operation. - Well, handles are great for carrying, for holding the camera in low-mode if you're operating with it a little lower than where your eye needs to be, but also it's a great place as you see with all these tapped holes for attaching things like accessories that might wanna be on the camera, but maybe there's not a plate like this. It's a very handy thing to attach, say, a hand-held rig like an Easyrig or something that, you know, might be suspended from the top. That gives you something to grab onto. - Yeah, and this one even has a hole in it so we could attach the arm, and then easily take something like a monitor or in this case the disc recorder, and…
