- I can speak from firsthand experience that I've broken the ports on a camera. These little tiny micro HDMI ports are kind of fragile. My Panasonic GH4 had to get sent back in. As the camera gets warm, the ports can get even more fragile. On one of my Sony's, we had a similar problem where someone was a little careless with the cable unplugging it a little too fast and it just broke the port. For some reason, these manufacturers in shrinking everything down have gone from nice beefy HDMI connectors to the smallest little tiny thing you can imagine and there's a big difference in stability between these two plug sizes. - Yeah, it's amazing that all the things that this camera can do can be rendered more or less useless if that little connector goes away so I think it's the weakest link in the camera system especially if you're trying to monitor or record externally. - Now, this particular cage has a pretty nice solution built in.
