This video is an overview of the main topics covered on the 2v0-641 exam, based on the latest blueprint on the VMware website.
- [Instructor] Earlier, we discussed how the blueprint is the main thing that you need to focus on in regards to taking and passing a certification exam. And so now, we're back in the vmware.com certification website, and I've opened up Path One. And now, what I'm going to do is click on VMware Certified Professional Six Network Virtualization Exam and scroll down here to take a look at the blueprint. Now, the blueprint is divided into nine separate sections, and each section is in regards to different technologies and different benefits in regards to NSX.
So, in this course, we're going to go right through the blueprint and take a look at the most important topics in regards to each one of the sections of the blueprint. Right now, what I want to do is just do an overview of the topics of the blueprint. So, for example, Section One is Define VMware NSX Technology and Architecture. Technology is how things work and what they can do for me and you, what they can do for people.
And so, in this section, we're going to talk about what NSX really is and how it redefines networking and how it can complete a software defined data center. Architecture is how things are built, so in this section, we're also going to talk about the aspects of NSX in regards to how it's constructed, the components that it uses. So that's Section One.
In Section Two, we're going to look at the physical infrastructure requirements. We're going to look at what you already have to have in place when you start to use NSX, and you'll see that NSX is very flexible in regards to what you already need to have in your physical infrastructure and you'll see the benefits of using NSX. Then, Section Three is configuring and managing vSphere networking. This is just a general understanding of vSphere standard switches and especially vSphere distributed switches and their relationship to NSX.
And you'll see how the vSphere distributed switch is actually used as the glue that makes NSX operate. Then, we'll discuss installing and upgrading VMware NSX. We'll discuss the installation steps in regards to NSX, and we'll discuss upgrading VMware NSX from previous versions and also from legacy software that was prior to NSX. In Section Five, we'll cover configuring VMware NSX virtual networks.
So, in this section, we'll talk about the components of the virtual network, such as logical switches and distributed logical routers and edges and how all of that goes together. Then, once you have your Software Defined Network, then you can have different services on it, like for example, network address translation or load balancing. So, under configure and manage NSX network services, we'll talk about all the different services that you can use and how you use those in an NSX environment.
In Section Seven, we'll cover configuring and administering network security, and you'll see how you can use roles and permissions so that those who need to be able to configure NSX can and those that don't need to and don't need to have access to it, how you can keep them out. We'll also talk about how you can configure security for the data traffic that is flowing through your Software Defined Networks. In Section Eight, we'll talk about performing operations tasks in the VMware NSX environment.
So, we'll discuss logging and we'll discuss monitoring compliance and the tools and techniques that you can use to do those functions. And finally, in Section Nine, we'll discuss troubleshooting VMware network virtualization implementations. We'll discuss the technologies that you're troubleshooting and how to understand it and how to isolate the components and then what types of tools and what types of techniques that you can use for troubleshooting a VMware network virtualization environment.
So, we'll start off by defining NSX technology and architecture.
