Understand ESXi installation methods including interactive and builder.
- [Instructor] In this video, we'll talk about…different upgrade alternatives for our ESXi hosts.…And we'll start by covering Update Manager.…Now, Update Manager is a tool that we can use…for a lot of different purposes.…We can perform VM or tools updates.…We can perform virtual machine, virtual hardware…version updates.…We can also perform host patches and host upgrades as well.…So, we can actually utilize Update Manager…not only to perform our routine patches of our ESXi hosts,…but also to upgrade from one version of ESXi to another…and this is the recommended method…to upgrade ESXi hosts in most cases.…
So, let's walk through the steps required…to use Update Manager to perform a host upgrade.…The first step is to create an upgrade baseline.…The baseline is simply the software…that we want to install on these ESXi hosts.…So, we'll create what's called a fixed baseline,…or an upgrade baseline, that we're going to use to push out…this software to our ESXi hosts and then we'll attach…that baseline to the ESXi hosts that we want to upgrade.…
