- Welcome to UX Foundation's Interaction Design. I'm Dave Hogue and in this course we're going to explore the principles and processes for designing better interactions for nearly any product. We'll take an approach to Interaction Design that starts with psychology so that we can better understand people, what they need and how they think and behave. Then we'll take a deeper look at how people learn to use and interact with products and we'll delve more deeply into the topics, methods and techniques Interaction Designers use to craft more engaging, powerful and considerate products.
Technology changes quickly and we need to deal with far more than laptops, tablets and phones. Today's Interaction Designers are helping create wearable devices, safer cars, smarter homes, guiding people through new voice and gestural interactions and tackling important issues of privacy, safety and attention management. This is not just about websites and mobile apps, but this course will help you make those better too. Unfortunately, too many of the devices, software and tools we use complicate, obstruct or delay our tasks, and in some cases may even thwart our efforts completely.
As designers, we strive to craft interfaces, systems and devices that enhance productivity, facilitate our actions, meet our needs, create value and even provide enjoyment. This entire course is built around a multilevel model of Interaction Design that gives us a framework to deliver the best, most effective and most empowering products. So let's get started with Interaction Design.
