How have things evolved in UX over the last 5 years?

- There have been quite a few big changes in the UX industry in the last five years. Let's start with the devices we're testing for and building for. Used to be you could think about an 800 by 600 screen. Then we moved to having to think about 1024 by 768 screens. Now screens can be anything from watch to a whole wall, so there's a massive difference in how you think about what the user experience is, who's gonna be using it, and how they're gonna be using it. So the breadth of what we're looking at has changed. Luckily there's a lot more acceptance of UX in industry these days. So our job's easier from that perspective because there's a lot more understanding of what UX can bring to the table. Also we have a lot better tools than we ever used to. There's a lot more online tools that will allow us to do the kind of research that we had to do face-to-face remotely. Survey tools, even tools that'll let you watch what somebody's doing on their PC, and then review that miles away and hours later than when they did it.
