Category planning
- For closed and hybrid tests you need to be just as careful about the categories as you do about individual cards. First, you'll want the categories you provide to be of similar granularity and specificity. Think back to the example of adding soccer cleats to an e-commerce site. You'd want categories to be similar such as shoes and clothing, not shoes and soccer footwear. This example also highlights your potential to influence users based on the categories you choose. Once you've selected a particular categorization it's very likely that users will continue that model in the the sort. Even if that's not how they would have immediately thought to do so. For instance, if you're exploring how people group types of workouts and run an open care sort, you might see that some people group things as individual versus team activities and others would sort into cardiovascular, strength, or flexibility training.
