Decals are material objects that can be overlaid onto other materials. In this video, explore how the road lines were made.
- [Instructor] Decals are a great way…to add extra detail to a scene.…Let's dig into one of these and see how it works.…So from the content browser,…head into Materials and Decals…and here you can see the various decal materials…that I've made for this.…Some of them are just simple dashed lines…and others are more complex, like these arrows,…but really the essence is the same.…If I double click on this and open it up…you'll see that there's just a few nodes.…
Let me maximize this so we can see.…It's really just a texture sample,…multiplied by a color,…fed into the base color and opacity.…However, before you can get to this point…it's important to note that…if you click on the main material node…you'll notice that it's set to a Deferred Decal…and all three of these have to be set this way…for this decal to work properly.…So, switch it from Surface to Deferred Decal.…
Make sure it's translucent…and that the debuffer translucent color…is set to that option…and really most of these work just fine…even if you were to set it to…
