Foliage mode

- [Instructor] We've got a great-looking office interior, but what about the exterior? I think it's time to add a little more detail outside, to give our low-poly workers somewhere nice to relax in the artificial sun. And while we're at it, we can dig deeper into another useful tool. Unreal Engine 4 has a suite of powerful mesh instancing functions called foliage mode. This system can efficiently cache and render a vast number of detailed meshes within our scene, so we can focus on making things look the way we want while the engine takes on most of the burden of optimization. To begin, let's open the foliage mode, or press shift, four. For this tool, we'll need a little bit more space, so let me go ahead and re-dock this. That should do it. This is paint mode, where the bulk of your foliage work happens. You can use these to paint meshes around the scene. Before we can do that, though, we need to add some foliage.…
