What is "Real Time"?

- [Voiceover] When it comes to the human eye and frame rate interpretation, there has always been a long-standing rule that anything above 15 FPS, or frames per second, is considered real time. That may work on a flat screen but when it comes to virtual reality, these rules change dramatically to the point where they don't apply at all. For a virtual reality experience to feel real to a viewer, the minimum accepted frame rate is 60 frames per second, however, that is rapidly becoming very low as most HMDs or head-mounted displays and GPU hardware can push much higher frame rates. For comparison, here's a list of available head mounted displays and their frame rate capabilities. So the older DK1, which is the first occulus release, 60 frames per second. The DK2, the second release at 75 frames per second. And now we get into what is kind of setting the standard in frames per second with the latest headsets on the market with the oculus rift retail at 90 frames, HTC Vive at 90, the Gear…
