Tom Sirdevan, look developer and lighting artist, introduces Blueprint and shows how you can create one to build a custom sky for your Unreal 4 scene. He then shows you how to use the Material Editor to sample the environment map for use in your custom sky. Finally Tom shows you how to use a sky light to capture your custom Blueprint sky and also some of the distant environment.
- [Voiceover] Currently, our sky is black…and wouldn't it be nice if you could use…our Environment Map to fill the sky.…We'll use a Blueprint to do this.…As this will allows to not only place…the Environment Map in the sky…but also create a dynamic sky that is fully customizable.…We'll also use the sky light…to gather the light from our sky.…As well as the scene.…Let's begin by creating a blueprint.…I'm gonna to add new in the Content Browser.…I'll select After as the Class Type.…
I'm gonna call this envBP for Environment Blueprint.…I'll create a Blueprint folder.…So if I go to Content Browser, Content,…right click and create New Folder.…I'm gonna call that Blueprints.…And then if I click on Content again.…I can drag envBP into blueprints…and I'll select Move here.…Let's go ahead and open this up.…So I'm gonna double click on it…and bring it up in the Blueprint Editor.…
First thing I wanna do is add a sphere.…So that we have a sphere in the sky.…I'll click on Add Component and select Sphere.…And I'll change the name to Sky Sphere.…
